Land Rover Introduces The Plug-In Hybrid Range Rover Sport

2019 Range Rover Sport P400e

The day has finally come! A plug-in vehicle that will take you places a plug-in has never gone before. Drive off-road, electrified, with the 2019 Range Rover Sport P400e.

The Range Rover Sport, the more compact version of the Range Rover, offers the same versatility as its larger counterpart, but with a sportier body. Capable of sourcing some of its propulsion energy directly from its electrical grid, the P400e plug-in hybrid version uses the automaker’s 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 398 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. Anyone concerned about sacrificing power for fuel-economy need not worry, this hybrid will launch from 0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds, and it will hit a top speed of 137 mph.

The P400e can also run on electricity or electric mode alone, traveling as far as 31 miles at speeds of up to 85 mph on a single charge of the 13.1-kWh lithium-ion battery. According to Land Rover, that single charge takes as little as 2 hours and 45 minutes with a 220-volt charger (pictured below). Such a charger can usually be found throughout urban areas (often for free) or installed in the home. Also, owners can use a smartphone app to check charging status or set up timed charging to take advantage of lower utility rates.
